Uncertainties in the national economy caused a 7% to 10% decrease in cabin rentals in the Smokies in 2009. 2010 rentals showed a trend to recovery and for quality cabins, 2011 rental incomes have returned to their previous levels. With 11,000,000 people vacationing here in the Smokies each year, cabin rentals are one of the largest industries in our area. Without a doubt, it is currently a buyer’s market for investment cabins here in the Smoky Mountains. In response to market conditions, I have chosen to act as a Buyers’ Agent, cherry picking the available properties for people who have the interest and ability to take advantage of the opportunities presented by current economic circumstances. Since the real estate bubble burst in late 2008, my greatest challenge has been finding cabins that meet my criteria.
